I wanted to explore black culture, and I wanted that culture to be a revelation.
In partnership with the Baltimore Black Dance Collective, the Gordon Center presents a celebration of the history, diversity, and beauty that resides within African American Culture through the voices of community artists from around Baltimore County. Featuring original dance performances by local artists, companies, and dance studios, the showcase highlights select dance works from the wonderfully diverse and eclectic range of our local dance community. Companies include: Full Circle Dance Company, Keur Khaleyi African Dance & Cultural Institute, Inc., VT Dance, Stephanie Powell DanseEnsemble, and Dance Baltimore.
Please stay tuned for the 3rd Annual Festival occurring on
Oct. 13th - 15th, 2023
at Creative Alliance
Black dancers in Baltimore are beautiful, talented, creative, yet overshadowed. The talent that lies within professional Black dancers is vast, but Baltimore has yet to give these dancers an opportunity to truly highlight our diverse range of movement on stage.
Often, Black dancers leave Baltimore to showcase their work in faraway venues that will hear their artistic voice. It is time for this to change.
The Black Choreographers Festival, occurring Friday - Sunday, October 13th, 14th, and 15th 2023, will highlight the diverse talents of Black dance artists in Baltimore through performances and community master classes.
Your support of The Black Choreographers Festival is very much appreciated. This festival is for our Baltimore community which if filled with dancers, dance lovers, and supporters.
